Speakers:

Mr. Alex Wüstenhagen

Dr. Axel Wüstenhagen has been a Board member of the Austrian UNA since 1962.
He was his Association’s Secretary-General from 1967-1972 and was elected
Vice President of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA)
in November 2012. Since 2009, he is WFUNA’s Representative to the United Nations (Vienna).
From 1972 to 2003, Mr. Wüstenhagen has worked in the service of the
UN Department of Public Information (DPI) and was first assigned as
Information Officer to the UNIDO in Vienna. Later he served as Senior Information Officer
and deputy to the Director of the UN Information Service in Vienna (1985-1990).
During the later part of his service in DPI, he was Director of the UNIC Athens (1990-1993),
the UNIS Vienna (1993-1996) and UNIC Bonn (1996-2003). In February 1991 he was briefly
assigned as public information coordinator and spokesperson for the
UN humanitarian relief operations during the Iraq/Kuwait crisis in Amman, Jordan.
In addition to the management of UN information programmes, focusing on public awareness
raising, UN advocacy, media liaison and cooperation with civil society and other stakeholders,
Mr. Wüstenhagen has been media logistics officer/media coordinator/spokesperson/senior media
advisor for high-level media protocol coordination for some 25 major UN conferences,
including 16 Conferences of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on
Climate Change during his UN service and after his retirement.

Mr. Bernhard Tuider

Mag. phil. Bernhard Tuider is the Chairman of the Austrian Esperanto-Federation.
He works as a librarian in the Department of Planned Languages and Esperanto Museum
of the Austrian National Library since 2008 and he has been accredited as second representative
of the Universal Esperanto Association at the NGO Committee on Peace, Vienna in 2012.
Mag. Phil. Tuider is a PhD candidate at the University of Vienna on Esperanto and
the Esperanto movement in Austria between 1918 and 1939. He also holds a Master on
History and European Ethnology at the University of Vienna and
wrote his thesis on the pacifist and esperantist Alfred Hermann Fried.

the VIC. Please consider that formalities at Gate 1 may take time
and kindly arrive sufficiently in advance of the meeting.
